About

Marissa Calderón Jiménez

I've lived in the Valley of the Sun for over 15 years. First generation Mexican American and dual-citizen. The youngest of five siblings(four older brothers) to the hardest working parents I know, Victor and Leonora Calderón. Both of my parents are still married, going on 45 years, retired and living the good life! I spent most of my early childhood in México before moving to the U.S.

I've been connected with young children and their families for almost 20 years at every level. Advocating for them has been my passion. My experience is founded on working with Kith and Kin families and also includes Social Services Sector work as a Program Manager for a local residential crisis agency, where we united the Mental Health and Early Childhood fields for children birth to twelve.

My recent work has taken me beyond the early childhood sector in my quest to connect both the Early Education field and the K-12 field to bring awareness of the importance of collaboration. This includes presentations on the importance of early childhood as it supports youth innovative programing such as STEAM/STREAM and other curriculum development. The connection between early childhood, K-12 programs and the small business community are areas I'm excited to be a part of.

My background is in Educational Studies, with a focus on Child Development and Social and Emotional Development or as it is now known as SEL(Social Emotional Learning). I'm also currently continuing my education at Arizona State. My most recent works include consulting services for Alesi Group, where I perform various early childhood roles including traveling statewide, coaching and consulting in the classroom for teachers working with pre-k thru kindergarten students(including general K-12), and on-going consult services for child care programs. I also manage social media communications for several local agencies in the early childhood field.

In my spare time I'm obsessed with tacos, meditation, laughing, learning about technology, creating Makerspaces, researching strategies on neuroeducation, podcasting, I enjoy connecting on social media with others in the field and spending time with my husband Vincent while embarking on the latest parenting adventures of our two daughters...our high school senior, Salma and our preschooler, Valentina.

Please send us well wishes!

Y como siempre, echandole GANAS!
