I've lived in the Valley of the Sun for over 15 years. First generation Mexican American Xicana and dual-citizen. The youngest of five siblings to the hardest working immigrant parents from Durango and Sinaloa, Victor and Leonora. Both of my parents are still married, going on 45 years, retired and living the good life! I spent most of my early childhood in México before moving to the U.S.
I've been connected with young children particularly vulnerable community families for over 20 years at every level. Advocating for them has been my passion.
My recent work has taken me beyond the early childhood sector connecting both my social services background and Early Education expanding to K-12. Bringing awareness of the importance of collaboration and their mutual significance, while respecting our indigenous roots and cultural customs.
In my spare time I'm obsessed with tacos, making Salsa Peleonera(#feistysalsa), meditation, our Chicano Movement, advocacy, learning about technology, creating Makerspaces, researching strategies on neuroeducation, podcasting, and I enjoy connecting on social media with others in the field and spending time with my husband Vincent while embarking on the latest parenting adventures of our two daughters...
Please send us well wishes!
